Deosai National Park spans over 3,000 square kilometres across the districts of Skardu and Astore. It is the second highest plateau in the world and a protected habitat for the Himalayan brown bear. The park blooms with wildflowers in summer and transforms into a snow-covered wilderness in winter, offering breathtaking scenery throughout the year.

Best Time to Visit
The best time to visit Deosai is from June to September when the plateau is accessible and covered with colourful wildflowers. The park is typically snowbound and closed from October to May.
How to Reach
Deosai is accessible from Skardu, approximately 30km away, via a jeep track. A 4x4 vehicle is required as the terrain is rough. Guided tours from Skardu are widely available.

Essential Information
Weather & Climate
Summers are cool with daytime temperatures around 10–15°C. Nights can be very cold. The plateau receives heavy snow from October to May.
Entry & Permits
A nominal entry fee is charged at the park gate. Foreign visitors may require a NOC from relevant authorities. Check with local tour operators in Skardu.
Travel Tips
Carry warm clothing — temperatures can drop sharply at night even in summer
Acclimatize in Skardu before visiting due to high altitude
Only accessible by 4x4 jeep
Bring sufficient food and water as no shops exist inside the park
Respect wildlife and do not approach Himalayan brown bears
